I want to take a second and introduce myself, my name is Sara Khadar and I will be in Milan for all of your fashion needs. What better way for me to start at Living Plush then to give you a break down of Milan Fashion Week. Get ready for Spring 2008 and
This is the time in Milan where designers show us their Spring 2008 lines. This year, Milan was on fire, not just with the designers, but with the buzz around a huge billboard that hung over Milan. Why, you ask? Well, it was a picture of a sickly thin Isabelle Caro, who now at 27 years wants to share her experience. She has suffered from anorexia since she was 13. This is part of an industry wide awareness of the eating disorders and warped body images that are plaguing some of the models. In August a Uruguayan model collapsed to her death after a fashion show. She had been starving herself to lose weight. The death of this model could be part of what prompted the changes. This all leads to Milan Fashion Week and how Milan has always been on the forefront. They actually started fashion week with a plus size show. Good for you! Some say you can never be too rich or too thin. I say c’est la vie. We always have to remember that fashion is always about pushing the limits and being on the edge of what is new, inventing the new. That is always the main focus. So, with that being said let me show you some of my favorites.
First and foremost, what is it about Roberto Cavalli? Hmm? When I am looking at his pieces, it is as if a soft song starts playing in the background. It starts to get louder and than someone starts asking me, no, begging me to come put the piece on. I slowly get up and start undressing…

Thankfully, I usually come to my senses before I do anything rash, but I have to admit there is something about his work. It’s whimsical, the fabric drapes perfectly, choice designs that practically order you to throw all your bras out at once. I love it!
Next we have the glamorous John Richmond. He actually made me want to know what he ate for breakfast between last season and this one. I was thoroughly impressed. Sexy, young, and tailor made! It’s all amazing! The men’s and women’s lines. It took me to a time where everyone looked good. All of a sudden cool is not something that you can achieve by the way you carry yourself, but it is a state of mind.

I have an affinity to anything that is simple, classic, and clean. This is possibly why I love Gianfranco Ferre. Absolutely amazing cuts and knee weakening touches to every piece that could not be done by anyone else. I recommend this for the professional woman or even the unprofessional woman. This will no doubt make you feel like you are on top of your game and make everyone that sees you believe it.

Jil Sander, the line speaks for itself. Complete perfection. You want to know how? It maybe in the same way that only a person who is involved in the process of crushing and picking the grapes can truly appreciate the wine…… Make sense? I believe it takes a true understanding of what you are trying to achieve and making sure everything looks and is intended. Raf Simons? I don’t know who to thank.

My nightlife favorite is definitely going to have to be Dsquared2. I thought fun and sexy. It almost made me want to skip writing this and go out. Who doesn’t love looking hot and risque? A woman always feels that something awakens in her when out in a look like this. It’s never a bad thing.

I left out a few of my favorite designers, I believe they do not need any explanation.
Iceberg

Giorgio Armani

Dolce and Gabbana

Have fun this season and I will always be here to bring you what I feel you need to know about fashion in Milan. Take it for what it’s worth and remember fashion is here to make you feel a certain way, it’s all about what you make it.!
Ciao!

Its nice to hear some fresh, “normal” words in a fashion industry that is just the opposite. Of course, glitz and glamor is what we’re all striving for on a Friday night, but the snub-nosed designers and reviewers make it almost unattainable. Thanks for bringing it back down to earth…
