Hello Tracy,
And welcome to Living PLush…
Now as far as your letter, I believe you answered yourself in the question. “Is it unhealthy to be (STRICTLY) friends with an ex?”
From what I read, this ex from college seems to be more than (Strictly) anything. Trust me… we all have a love from high school, college, summer camp… LOL and they all have special places in our hearts because we share common connections, memories, etc. But when you decide to enter into a NEW relationship all OLD lovers have to take a back seat… and for us who are serial daters or bounce back and forth between past lovers, this poses a problem. Any maybe that is what your New Boo is concerned about.
You are attempting to leave open a door to protect yourself from fully committing to your new relationship. It’s an emotional security blanket… and although WE ALL hate to admit it… most of us have one… or two… or.. Nevermind… LMAO
The point is… If you are ready to commit to your New Boo, then you will have to let go of the Old Boo. Now, do not mistake this for platonic friends of the opposite sex. I have plenty of male friends that would love to date me, and when I am dating someone serious… they are still my friends.
You refer to the past relationship with such passion and your NEW Boo as a your Friend. Maybe, in order to be fair to your NEW Boo, you should re-evaluate your true motives for both relationships and decide which one you are willing to sacrifice the other for.
Or is OLD Flame even willing to be more than (Strictly) friends? Are you willing to give up your relationship for this (Strictly) Friendship?
We have a saying in these parts, “Don’t Give Up Your “For Sure” Sh@T for “Some More” Sh@T” which translates as “A Bird in the Hand” or “the Grass is Greener where you are…” LMAO
I apologize for telling you exactly what you didn’t want to hear… but that’s “Dear CheLLe”. You should not be trying to change your NEW Boo’s percpective on the situation, but your OWN.
I hope your NEW Boo is as passionate and loving as the OLD one…
Smooches…
Chao’

I totally Agree CheLLe. Tracy, you need to decide on which guy you want.
