Well, it seems as though rapper C-Murder, Corey Miller, will be re-tried for the second-degree murder charge that was tossed out by a judge once it was revealed that the prosecutors withheld information about their witnesses’ criminal background from the defense attorneys. Yes, I said that C-Murder, who adopted the name C-Miller after he was incarcerated, will be re-tried for the 2002 shooting death of 16 year-old Steve Thomas at a Harvey, LA nightclub.

C-Murder is mainly known for his rap act with No Limit Records. No Limit Records was founded by C-Murder’s older brother, Percy Miller a.k.a. Master P.

I thought that double jeopardy laws should protect him from facing trial again, but apparently it doesn’t apply in this situation. Lest we forget this is Louisiana that we’re talking about. Not to stir things up, but we must admit that this state has made questionable judgments against blacks not only in the past, but also in recent years.

According to sources, a February 11 trial date has already been set for C-Murder. He is facing a possible life in prison sentence if convicted of this crime.

The other crazy part of this story is that the state Supreme Court upheld Judge Martha Sassone’s decision to throw out the conviction in March of 2006. She had then ordered him to house arrest and a $500,000 bond. She has since approved trips that C-Murder has made out of state.

A hearing had been called recently to discuss a drug test that C-Murder supposedly failed before going out of town to promote his book. The test was administered by a home incarceration officer, and falsely concluded that Corey Miller had methamphetamines in his system. Testing at a laboratory later determined that the false read may have been due to cold medicine that C. Miller had taken earlier.

C. Miller has a new novel out that he has been promoting entitled, “Death Around the Corner by Corey Miller a.k.a. C-Murder.” I have yet to read the novel, but as soon as I do you know I’ll post a review on it!
